Beach Cleaning Drive

In a remarkable display of environmental stewardship, second-year BSc Computer Science students from Vimala College took to the shores of Azhikode Munakkal Beach for a comprehensive beach cleaning initiative. The event was preplanned in association with Environment Day Celebrations.

DEEPTI (Digitally Equip, Empower & Progress with Technology Innovations)

Department of Computer Science, Vimala College (Autonomous), Thrissur in association with Nethaji Vayansala, Konikkara, Thrissur organized an e-literacy drive “DEEPTI - Digitally Equip, Empower & Progress with Technology Innovations”, for Elderly people, Kudumbasree people, House wives, Asha workers on 29 April 2023.

Internal Extensions

Stress detection of students in our college using Machine Learning. The internal extension program successfully created a software solution for stress detection in college students. 

Social Extensions

• MEIRA-A Rural Expedition: As part of the various community extension programmes organized by the college, Dept. of Computer Science, Vimala College organized a three day social service camp “MEIRA-A Rural Expedition” at Ashrayam Rural Development Society,Kollengode for first year BSc Computer Science students from 13 May 2022 to 15 May 2022 in association with the Ashrayam Vignana Karma Nikethan Project.

• As part of the various community extension programmes organized by the college, Dept. of Computer Science, Vimala College organized a one day social service camp at St.Joseph’s Special School, Cheroor for first year and second year BSc Computer Science. Students helped to serve food and feed the inmates there on 22 February 2023.

Other Community Services:

In association with UBA, as per the requirement for a survey from Madakkathara panchayath to collect information regarding Covid- 19 and related health aspects of residents of panchayath and "Vathilppadi Sevanam", our students from second year and final year B.Sc. Computer Science students conducted a telephone survey of all households under Ward 1 and Ward 2 with a pre-defined and structured questionnaire approved by Panchayath at its meeting. The collected data has been analyzed, a report is prepared and submitted to Panchayath on 16^th November 2021.

The department believes in the "Holistic" development of her students, and hence aims at instiling Community Service Responsibility in each one of them through the following programmes conducted every year.

• Peace Home/Orphanage Visit
• Sponsoring of VCASS students through alumnae Support
• Paper Bag distribution in association with UBA Vimala College by S5 Comp. Science 2020-21
• Distribution of needy materials such as groceries and provisions during occassions (the students are responsible for mobilising the resources

Community Out reach program

• Mask Distribution in the wake of Covid Pandemic April 2020
• In association with UBA, the department, started TEQIP - A digital Dashboard to facilitate online teaching on 15th August 2020
  • ​A google classroom which has tutorial videos about Google Apps, OBS software, Webex, Kahoot, MS Office Apps.
